Our Purpose

Ask a company why it exists, and most will say "to make money." To Chymir, that is not a purpose. It is what happens when we do our work well. We exist because doing nothing is also a decision, and we refuse to make it. Wildlife is vanishing, forests are falling, and the climate is not waiting for a convenient quarter, so neither are we. This is where our effort goes, in the open, where you can check it.

Wildlife

Monitored wildlife populations have fallen by an average of 73% since 1970. Not over geological time. Within a single human lifetime. Lions, the animals behind our name, have lost roughly half their numbers in a few decades and have vanished from most of the land they once ruled. None of this is a mystery. We know what is driving it: habitat loss, poaching, and conflict with people who have been left no better option. What is missing is not knowledge. It is the will to pay for what we already know works.

Forests

The world clears around ten million hectares of forest every year, an area larger than Portugal, mostly to make room for things we could produce elsewhere. A forest is not a collection of trees. It is a water system, a carbon store, and a home for most of the species that live on land, and when it is cut, all of that goes with it. A plantation does not replace it. Decades of pledges have been signed to stop this, and the chainsaws have outlasted every one of them.

Climate

2024 was the first full year the planet spent more than 1.5 °C above pre-industrial temperatures, the line the world promised not to cross. Emissions are still rising. Our industry is part of it: every website, every server, every backup runs on power and hardware that leave a mark. The technology to cut emissions and pull carbon back out of the air exists today. What is lacking is early money and companies willing to act before they are forced to. Waiting for regulation is just another way to delay action.
